Position Summary and Responsibilities Pennwood Cyber Charter School seeks a qualified and certified
School Counselor to join our team. Working from a home office in Pennsylvania, School Counselors provide virtual counseling services to support the academic, personal, and social development of students.
School Counselors serve as the initial point of contact for students and families, consult regularly with staff and learning coaches, and provide guidance on course selection, credit requirements, and graduation planning. They collaborate with the Director of Counseling and staff across grade levels to ensure the success of the school’s counseling program.
Key Responsibilities - Develop and deliver a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with state standards.
- Provide individual and group counseling to address academic, career, and social-emotional needs.
- Guide students in setting and achieving academic and career goals, including course and credit planning.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to identify and address student needs.
- Provide crisis intervention and connect students and families with community resources.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records and documentation.
- Participate in Student Support Teams (SST) and collaborate on intervention strategies.
- Deliver classroom guidance lessons on topics such as academic success, career exploration, and interpersonal skills.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to maintain counseling expertise.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications - Master’s degree in School Counseling
- Pennsylvania Department of Education School Counselor certification.
- Previous school counseling experience preferred.
- Skills :
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and families.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and counseling data systems.
- Highly organized, student-centered, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
- Employees must live in Pennsylvania or within a reasonable one-day drive to the state to support on-site events and activities.
- Travel is required as needed to support students, families, and school operations. This may include occasional overnight stays.
- Ability to work occasional evening hours.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote setting with reliable internet and a private workspace.
- Two-step authentication required for system access upon hire.
